Title: View Independent Posture Recognition using Multiple Silhouettes in Hidden Markov Models
Abstract:
With emerging technology development, we aim to duplicate the ability of human vision by electronically perceiving and understanding the human action. Human action is composed by a sequence of postures across time and space. In fact, human posture is a basic element of human action. Thus, we present a simple yet effective human posture representation and recognition using multiple silhouettes from multiple cameras and Hidden Markov Model (HMM) for view independent. A defined virtual environment and synthetic 3D model are used for capturing and training the defined postures. It is reasonably cheap to compare with real model for training data. In order to resolve the view independent where human can perform action naturally and without restrict the position, a sequence of code word for defined posture is created to train the HMM. Each HMM is represented for a defined posture where it is able to learn and recognize the defined posture at any sequence of viewpoints with minimum number of observed cameras.
