Unmanned Aerial Systems Remote Sensing
Title: Unmanned Aerial Systems Remote Sensing
Date: 31 May (Friday)
Time: 3.30pm - 4:30pm
Speaker: Anthony Vodacek, Professor, Rochester Institute of Technology
Venue: TBA
Synopsis:
The speaker is going to talk about unmanned aerial systems remote sensing research being done in their lab for applications like 3D structure in cities and forests, vehicle tracking, agricultural applications, and water quality monitoring. This is a mix of technology, spectral imaging, and data analysis techniques.
Speaker Profile:
Anthony Vodacek, Professor, Rochester Institute of Technology
Anthony Vodacek received his B.S. (Chemistry) in 1981 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He then received his M.S. and Ph.D. (Environmental Engineering) in 1985 and 1990 from Cornell University. His Ph.D. advisor was William Philpot. He held postdoctoral positions at the Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy where he was a Visiting Scientist and at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center where he held a National Research Council Resident Research Associateship, working with the Airborne Oceanographic Lidar group. He then joined the research staff at the University of Maryland-College Park in 1994 where he worked on coastal ocean optical properties with Neil Blough in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Since 1998 he has been a member of the faculty at the Rochester Institute of Technology and the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science. His areas of research lie broadly in multi-modal environmental remote sensing, with recent work focusing on the coupling of environmental imaging with environmental modeling with application to both terrestrial and aquatic systems.
