Talk: Data Challenges in Multimedia Environmental Sensing

There is a public event held by FICT, the detail is as followed:

Title: Data Challenges in Multimedia Environmental Sensing
Date: 19 June 12
Time: 12.00 pm - 2.00 pm
Venue: IDK8, UTAR Perak Campus
Speaker: Prof. Paul Roe, Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

Description: Traditional biodiversity monitoring is labour intensive and expensive. Multimedia sensors provide a way to scale biodiversity monitoring. However unlike traditional sensors, collecting, processing and managing multimedia senor data is challenging due to the distributed and voluminous nature of the data. In this talk I will present ways in which we have addressed these challenges including dynamic and adaptive data movement and processing. Our current approach and ideas will be discussed along with future challenges.
