FICT is pleased to invite all UTAR staff and students to a talk "Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers for Passive Optical Networks" by Prof. Ivan Andonovic, University of Strathclyde, UK (FICT External Examiner for Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) Communications and Networking).
Details of the talk are as follows:
Date: 12 June 2012, Tuesday
Time: 1:30pm to 3:00pm
Venue: EDK1, Block E, UTAR Perak, Kampar
Abstract: The growing demand for high speed access services has driven the deployment of Passive Optical Networks (PONs) which minimise the amount of terminal equipment between the core and access layers of the network. Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOAs) are especially relevant to future PON evolutions providing enhanced network performance and in turn services for customers. The presentation will summarise the role SOAs will potentially play in future PON deployments.
